05/12/10 PART 2
Here are babies from a small clutch of 7 eggs. The parents were both Super Stripe/"Het" Ultrabreits (their parents were :male Super stripe x female Ultrabreit). I was really fascinated and happy to see that the Super Stripe and Ultrabreit mutations seemed to fall out so well and maintain their distinct look. I was concerned that everything would meld together and you wouldn't be able to identify each mutation, but that does not seem to be the case! I have several more clutches to hatch, so should get a good sample. Male # 2 may be an example of the "higher level" Ultrabreits that start to lose their pattern combined with the super stripe. I think combining these two mutations are going to continue to make some amazing babies! The color from the Superstripe on the head is a great addition to the Ultrabreit pattern!
So here is the chart to make things clear:
First made Parent cross: Superstripe x Ultrabreit
Then took F1 and bred together: Super stripe/"het Ultrabreit" x Super stripe/"het Ultrabreit"
Produced F2: super stripe Ultrabreit; Ultrabreit; Super Stripe; Super stripe "het Ultrabreit" ?????
