02/17/11 DOUBLE HET VPI CARAMEL ALBINO/SHARP ALBINO
These little boas are from a Sharp Albino female bred to a VPI Caramel Albino male. This was the second breeding with two different animals to confirm our first results. Speculation was rampant whether the VPI Caramel Albino x Sharp would yield results similar to Sharp Albino x "Boa Woman Caramel", which makes a boa called the "Paradigm." In our first breeding all of the babies (5.5) appeared normal.
The assumption was that the VPI Caramel Albino acted differently than the "Boa Woman Caramel." Of course we wanted to repeat the results with another breeding with two different animals to make absolutely sure what we were seeing was a litter of what appear to us to be double heterozygous recessive animals that will when bred to each other produce Sharp Albinos, VPI Caramel Albinos, Normals, and the 1/16 Sharp Albino VPI Caramel Albino. The litter born in late 2010 had 11 "normal" babies (4.7).
What did surprise me was how colorful all of the babies became over the past two years. They are really nice light banded, pink sided snakes. I of couse am curious to see if these new babies follow that same transformation.
Transformation in the best way, these Double hets have gained amazing color as they grow!
