This has been a crazy last week which is why I have not been posting in my blog.
I went to D.C. to my 35th high school reunion! It was fun-everyone looked exactly the same! Lots of interesting careers and paths, of course I spent the majority of my time bragging about our two sons and showing photos of them!
Dave put two clutches in the incubator, so the photo credits are his!
This is a neat clutch! This female was imported as an adult WC Python brongersmai in 1997. We have had her for 14 years. The last time I used her for breeding was in 2006, so she has had a 5 year break. I brought her out of retirement and paired her up with a nice Ivory male to make Matrix 100% het for red albino. This answers the questions 1) how well do older females do, and 2) can a female reproduce after not doing so for 5 years? Obviously the answer is yes to both of those questions!
Our strategy here at VPI is to do very targeted breeding in terms of doing a more "low volume" "high attention to individual animal and customer" philosophy.
