06/02/12 VPI IVORY RED BLOOD PYTHON ON EGGS 2012

The Ivory Red Blood Python is an amazing morph that has a great variety of looks. The amount of pattern is highly variable and even the color can surprise you with some animals showing pink and red coloration around the neck area. We have noticed that this may become more pronounced in adult animals, in particular males during the breeding season (?!) Not sure if we just happen to notice it more in males than females and if it actually is statistically significant, so we will get on that project next year.

The Ivory Red Blood Project is one of our favorites and the biggest reason is it produces what we call "marker" animals. We know captive breeding has over the last two decades produced and is the source of more and more animals in the trade. The Matrix and Ivory animals are a visual marker and it can easily be documented that the animal in question has not been removed from the wild, but was hatched in captivity. This has been the goal of the VPI Blood Python project since its inception in 1995.
