From perfectly patternless to hyper patterned, this is our new "VPI Super Pastel Crazy" and I think that this will set the bar for intense patterns to come. We haven't even bred two of these together yet!

This is a really neat project that finally looks as though it is getting off the ground. It is a simple recessive "patternless" snake! There are combinations of ball python morphs that make patternless looking animals, but this is a Patternless male from a breeding of Patternless x 100% het Patternless. I am particularly excited to put this with piebald, axanthic, and lavender albino. In the mean time this look is awesome on its own!

We have been so busy that we literally had to step away from the computer and take a break writing my VPI diary and updating our FB page. I think you will be happy that we went in this direction because we always seek to be well rounded and do different things when at all possible.

Sometimes they surprise you and that is what happened yesterday. By my calculations we were at day 99 post shed, and in a year where our female Boas were averaging about a week to ten days late on my usual delivery date calculations (instead of 104 days, we were getting 110-115 days post shed), Thursday afternoon 07/12/12, I leisurely put in some aspen bedding for our Ghost female to have her babies in. Not even 24 hours later as I went to do my last post work check at 5:30 pm, I lifted up her paper and there were a whole lot of babies staring up at me!

The Batik morph is a fantastic look and the Red Albino Batik really lets the pattern stand out. I will be working on the yellow and orange version this coming year, which I think should be absolutely awesome. It is interesting that this mutation in Bloods is an amazing example of what in herpetoculture is referred to as a true "codominant", but in Burmese pythons "Granite" is a recessive, and has no "super" version. Both are really similar, so it is fascinating that they would not be inherited in a similar fashion.

Just chipping away at getting this project off the ground! Some times it is very slow, but I have always said one is more than none! This is exactly what we got in our clutch of 8 eggs VPI Wrought Iron x Red Albino! A single baby-a gorgeous male 100% het for Red Albino, so I am happy for that! We are still needing a female or we are not going to see if there is a super any time soon! Last time we had 4 males. They are coming up in breeding size, so when we can get them going we will have a much better chance to start producing some females, and more animals in general.
