Baby carpet python not feeding well...

Dear VPI,

I have an Irian Jaya carpet python. He fed on his first pinky 6 weeks after hatching. It is now 6 weeks later and he has not eaten. He doesn't look thin and is very active. The pinky interests him to the point were he will watch it and smell it all night. I have tried live and thawed mice. Should I keep putting mice in until he eats or try some other method? Thanks for you help.  alf

Dear alf,

Ours have always been good to eat thawed pinks/fuzzies that are just laid in the cage.

He might enjoy a perch like a branch or a twig wedged across the cage so that he can strike down on his prey. They like big meals much better than small meals-maybe you are offering too small pinkies?  DGB
