Can dog fleas be treated like snake mites?

Dear VPI,

I was searching for "mites" and stumbled across your website I was wondering if any of the treatments used against snake mites might be suitable for fleas on dogs as well. Please let me know.

I don't think that you should consider that snake mite treatment would apply to dogs. I’d recommend that you talk with a veterinarian. There is a lot more known and proven about treating fleas on dogs than about treating mites on snakes.

Personally, I've always used fenthion with dogs with dramatic success. It kills mites and fleas. You can get it in ranch stores, and feed supplies.   DGB
