Blood Python Gallery #2 - Ivory

This is a red-headed two-year-old matrix blood python.

This is a three-year-old female. She is now almost  four feet long, chubby, and almost certainly sexually mature. At this age and size we begin to monitor her regularly with our untrasound. She has visible tiny oocytes, but what we look for is when those begin to increase in size. that is the evidence that she is actually beginning a breeding cycle.

This is a two-year-old matrix. The matrix appearance is very polymorphic, but whatever they look like, they usually don't look like normals.

This is the face of a large adult female matrix blood python. Young matrix are easy to identify, but the differences between adult matrix and normals are harder to notice. One clue visible in this picture is that the pale postocular stripe seen on this matrix is about twice the width of the narrow pale postocular stripe seen on most normals.
